We want to create a positive work environment that encourages people to do their best. So we take an active role in helping employees identify opportunities to enhance their performance, career prospects and value to the company. Unisource conducts a thorough performance appraisal process each year to help set goals and identify areas of improvement. And we encourage personal development by reimbursing eligible expenses incurred in the pursuit of continuing education.
Our commitment to training at the corporate level is under the direction of our National Manager of Training and Organization Development who is responsible for developing/acquiring, implementing and managing training
programs for all Unisource teams or individual team members.
Since 2008, Unisource has been engaged in Lean Six Sigma -- a highly structured and disciplined problem solving methodology that focuses on increasing customer satisfaction by improving processes and eliminating wasted and non-value added work.
Currently, all Unisource managers are participating in Yellow Belt training. Green Belt training will soon be provided to 36 team members representing all Unisource regions and functions. Our goal is for 30% of our managers to achieve Green Belts by 2010. Lean Six Sigma qualified managers will work on projects that are focused on issues which are critical to delivery or cost and which will have a demonstrated financial impact on our business.
“Our mission to Deliver the Best Value Every Time can be seen at work in Unisource’s continuous improvement and other training initiatives.” – Lin Malhotra, National Manager of Training and Organization Development
