2010 SFI® Annual Conference
September 21-23, 2010
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
"SFI Program - the Power of Partnerships"
SAVE THE DATE!
It's time to start thinking about the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) Annual Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, September 21-23, 2010.
Vancouver is a fitting venue for this year's conference. Just as the 2010 Olympics demonstrated the immense power of teamwork, we will be examining the power of partnerships. More than 2,500 individuals and groups involved in the SFI program are improving forest practices, raising awareness about the benefits of forest certification and responsible fiber sourcing, and working with conservation groups, community leaders, government agencies, family forest landowners, and many others.
Last year, we had record attendance at our conference in Nashville, and we plan another packed program this year. Stay tuned to our conference website (http://www.sfiprogram.org/conference-2010.php), where we will post additional details about the program and registration throughout the coming weeks and months. Also, for those traveling from the United States, you will find information about travel requirements, including government-issued identification or passport requirements, on the U.S. passport office website at: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1082.html#entry_requirements.
For now, make a note in your calendar to join us in Vancouver in September. And in a few weeks, look for information regarding conference registration.

Are you a designer, printer or marketer hesitating to use synthetic papers because so many of your questions about how and why to use them have gone unanswered?
PaperSpecs' next Webinar "A World of Alternative Papers" will uncover the largely uncharted realm of alternative printing substrates, namely those that contain no tree pulp or cotton fiber.
The variety of end uses for synthetic paper is nearly limitless. They feel like traditional paper, can be finished and printed like pulp-based paper, offer creative inspiration and have positive impact on the bottom line when used properly.
An Alternate Paper Reality
Our guest speaker Bosy Colak, president of Strategic Responses, will reveal the different types of synthetic, mineral and plastic papers available today and when it makes creative and financial sense to use them.
Webinar highlights
• The different types of polyester and plastic papers
• The benefits and pitfalls of these alternative papers
• The environmental aspects of synthetic papers
• When to use an alternative paper
• How to successfully design with alternative papers
• Printing guidelines for digital and offset presses
• Finishing possibilities for synthetic papers
This Webinar is perfect for designers, advertisers, marketers and media strategists who want to discover the world of alternative substrates and how to print and design with them effectively.
