Helping Our Communities

We believe that Unisource Canada has an obligation to operate responsibly in the communities we share across Canada -- one that is contingent on a commitment to good corporate citizenship and the hard-earned reputation that results from it over time. That commitment can be seen in our proud support of the United Way Campaign, which began in 1988 and evolved into a national program, with full company matching of employee contributions. We also provide direct support to a number of University scholarship programs, including the British Columbia Institute of Technology and fundraisers for various colleges including Ontario College of Art and Design and the Greater Toronto Hotel Association Golf Tournament that supports student scholarships funds for the Tourism and Hospitality Industry. During the past few years, we have sponsored fundraiser activities for the Casey House, a hospice for AIDS patients and Canstruction Vancouver with all food proceeds going to local food banks. In addition, we have sponsored a number of events benefiting local hospitals, including the William Osler Hospital Foundation Charity Golf Tournament in Toronto and

The Children’s Hospital Research Foundation Teddy Bear Picnic Fundraiser in Winnipeg. Our Vancouver branch also sponsors a child in Kenya through World Vision by several activities including jean days. Going forward, we will be consolidating Unisource’s philanthropic activities on a national basis in two critical areas where we are best positioned to make a difference -- in terms of corporate giving as well as the volunteer contributions of our employees. These areas of concentration will include national support for The United Way and education.
